E-inaugurates various projects, meets public delegations
Bandipora, October -06: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday visited Bandipora district as part of the Union Government’s ongoing Public outreach programme.
The minister participated in several activities, met public delegations and inaugurated various developmental projects. He was accompanied by Chairman District Development Council Abdul Gani, Deputy Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmad, Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zahid, Additional Private Secretary Praveen Morya, Director General Social Welfare B A Dar, Additional District Development Commissioner Ali Afsar Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad and other senior officers of the district.
During the visit, Union Minister of State formally e-inaugurated the 1000 LPM Oxygen Generation Plant at Government District Hospital Bandipora installed at the cost of Rs 6.75 Crores. The Minister also inaugurated the complex of Government Middle School Saderkoot Bala constructed at the cost of Rs 95 lakhs besides inaugurating the Buildings constructed for Government Primary School Sadunara at the cost of Rs 95 Lakhs.
He also e-inaugurated the creation and augmentation of 7 sub stations at various locations in Bandipora district at the cost of Rs 37.65 lakhs . The minister also inaugurated several Panchayat Ghars in the district that were reconstructed of renovated at the cost of Rs 9.62 lakhs. The Minister also released a book on domestic violence compiled by Mahila Shakti Kendra Bandipora and One Stop Centre Bandipora in collaboration with district administration.
Later the minister interacted with public delegations including members of District Development Council Bandipora, Chairmen of Municipal Committees and Council, BDC members and other PRI representatives, members of All J&K OBC Manch, representatives of associations of Physically challenged persons , representatives of Old Age, Pensioners, Widows and Destitute, members of Tehsil Coordination Committee Hajin, Citizens Welfare Forum Sumbal, Gujjar Bakerwal Youth Forum, carpenters union besides other individuals.
The delegations raised several demands including increase in quota of various centrally sponsored schemes like Post-Matric scholarship, Special Marriage Assistance, Pre-Primary Education I Anganwadi Centres, Allotment of additional Anganwadi cetres, making operational the newly established Tehsil Social welfare Centres, enhancement in widow pension, drug-de-addiction centre in Bandipora, establishment of Mother and Childcare hospital in Bandipora, establishment of Government Treasury in Sumbal ad development of stadium in Hajin, construction of Bandipora-Gurez tunnel , rehabilitation of business establishments that turned NPS after covid, release of honorarium to anganwadi centres, construction of Yatri Niwas at Ajas, Free Higher Education, Hostel Facility, vertical reservation in government jobs and removal of income slabs/income certificate demands for specially abled persons.
The representatives of Gujjar and Bakerwal community raised several demands including distribution of three-wheeler Scooties to specially abled, smart class room in schools falling in tribal areas, tablets for students for gujjar community to attend online classes. Minister gave patient hearing to all the delegations and individuals and assured the delegations that he will go through all the demands personally so as to take steps to redress these grievances.
